How can I mount a corruptedAcronis tib backup file? |
|
I made a backup of the files
from a computer with a
corrupted copy of windows, but
I can't mount the backup.
Acronis gives me the error:
"This is not the last created
volume of a backup archive"
and I get a corrupt image
error when I try to mount it.
I can tell the data's there;
it's a 36 GB image of the
disk. Is there ANY way to
extract the files from it?
What about validating the
image using the Acronis boot
disk? Thanks! |

Gonna start by saying I dont
know, but I had a similar
issue and resolved it.. I had
what I thought was a solid
.tib archive, but when I
needed it Acronis returned the
error The archive is corrupted
(0x70020)
- I tried rolling back to
lower version but no go.
What seemed to work was
ensuring I had full
permissions to the .tib, and
there was also an orphaned SID
that I removed.
HOW
Right click
filenameofimage.tib, select
Properties and then the
Security tab.
You might have to then go to
the advanced tab and switch
off Inheritance.
Remove any SID 1-1-1 type
numbers.
Make sure the login yoiu are
using has Full Control.
After saving my permission
changes, Acronis suddenly
found the archive top be OK.
I was able to burn and use the
image.
If the files are on CD, try
moving em to an external drive
and running off that.
Best of luck, |

Can Acronis True Image makemultiple copies on sameexternal drive? |
|
I'm thinking of getting
Acronis True Image.
I have Norton Ghost, but it
won't allow me to make copies
of multiple hard drives onto
same external drive.
Will Acronis allow me to make
copies of multiple hard drives
from different computers onto
a same hard drive?
I have a Western Digital 1
Terabyte external drive. |
 |
yes. You just give each image
file it's own name. I use it
that way all the time.
Multiple computers, and even
multiple drives on those
computers. To acronis, the
image file it creates is just
like any other file. Just give
each one their own name and
you can save as many as you
want onto your external drive
(space permitting of course).
For example, I have a C & D
drive on my computer. And my
wife's has a C & D drive. I
make acronis backup/image
files of all 4 drives (each
drive with it's own image
file) and store them all on an
external drive.
i'm surprised that norton
ghost can't do
that....strange. |

How good is Acronis True Imagesoftware? |
|
I need a good backup software.
Does anyone have experience
with Acronis True Image?
Does it really copy your whole
drive and you can re-boot from
it?
I know it claims it can do
that but has anyone been
successful after a "disaster"? |
 |
I've used Acronis to create an
image of my current drive,
restore it to a new hard drive
and then install the new hard
drive as my main drive and it
worked perfectly.
I also bought the "universal
restore" option but have never
had a chance to actually try
it to see if it works.
Hopefully I'll never have to
use it. Although I would love
to find an old computer that I
didn't care about just to see
if I really could "restore"
everything to a completely
different computer with
completely different hardware
(motherboard, video cards,
hard drives, etc).
Generally speaking, if you did
have a drive that crashed,
you'd probably restore it to
the same computer (with a new
drive installed). In that
situation, I have full
confidence it would work. I
guess the only time I could
see have to restore to a
completely different PC would
be in a "disaster" situation
(fire, flood, theft, etc)
where the old PC isn't
available to use any longer.
If that were to happen,
hopefully the universal
restore option actually works
:-)))
IMO, it's well worth the price
of the software. The server
version is much more expensive
but then again if your company
is heavily reliant on the data
on your servers (and whose
isn't nowadays), it would be a
small price to pay for a
disaster recovery option. But
a good backup software (like
Backup Exec for example)
should also be used too. |
