About "Cambridge Soundworks" Answer

Do my Cambridge SoundworksEnsemble speakers still cutit?
I have the Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble II 5.1 speaker system. Bought about 10 years ago, only used for about 2-3 years. I have a new Sharp 46" LCD HDTV and Onlyo TX-SR606 receiver. Getting a Blu-ray player soon. Should I get all new, more "current" speakers, or can I keep them and just add two for the rear to go 7.1?
My Cambridge SoundworksBasscube 12S started making aconstant noise between a LOUDhum and an air-raid siren?
It started in the middle of the night when the rest of the system was off. It makes the noise anytime it is switched on -- or if it's on auto AND getting a signal. Now that I've disconnected it, I tested it on another outlet - constant noise when it is switched on. Any ideas?
Is it only doing when signal is applied? Or does it do it when simply turned on? It sounds as though the built-in amp is oscillating. This can be caused by problems in the input module or in the amp itself. Either way, it has to go in for service as long as you know that everything that is coming to it is clean - that you KNOW the input is good. If this is the case, don't play around with it, because I have seen amps like this make hamburger out of the speaker even though the amp is rated at less power than the speaker. The amp is what we call "at the rails", which means it is putting out everything it can - kinda like a phaser on overload. Good luck!
Is there a sound card thatwill allow me to hook my sonylaptop up to my cambridgesoundworks hometheatre sys.
Sony Laptop, with original audio card. Headphone jack, Mic Jack, Monitor Jack... Hometheatre system is 5.1 dolby, cambridge soundworks, surround sound...
There should be, but you will need a surround amplifier/receiver to fully realize this.
