deposit off your card and when
you turn the car in, either
you can pay in cash or have
the total come off your credit

I went to enterprise a couple
days ago and dropped off my
rental. I pulled up and gave
the guy the key, he gave me a
receipt and that was it. I did
not get insurance. If they see
any damage to the car after
it's been dropped off can they
charge my credit card?
Basically, can enterprise
charge my credit card after
it's been dropped off and paid
for if they see something
wrong with the car? Or does
enterprise see it as a loss
since they didn't see it
during drop-off? |

Read your rental contract. If
it says that you are released
from liability after you've
dropped off the car, then you
are fine. If all it says is
that you are liable for
damages, they may still hold
you responsible for what they
may find later.
At some point, they will deem
the vehicle ready to rent to
the next customer. Wherever
that point may be, that is
when, logically, they must
release your liability.

I want to rent a car from
Enterprise but on their page
it says that I get unlimited
km if I drive in Ontario. Will
they know if I take the car to
the US? |

I worked at ERAC for over 8
years.... so
#1 they DO NOT have GPS
tracking on ANY of their cars.
#2 they will know because you
will have an issue at the
border.
ERAC has dozens of cars every
month stuck on the wrong side
of the US/Canada border. If
the car is a rental and it is
not written on the contract
that it is OK to cross over
you will get stuck..... and
you might owe more that $1000
to get it out of impound fees
and have a driver get it back
to the branch you got it from.
I know this because I dealt
with it for years. People
would rent here in the US and
be told not to drive it across
the border. Of course a few
would and then upon attempting
to cross back into the US the
Canadian authorities would
realise that this car was not
allowed to be driven into
Canada so they would impound
it. Same thing happens in the
US.
You do have a slim chance
maybe 10% that you won't get
caught.... but is it worth it?
Push for the upgrade maybe pay
a little more for it to be set
up.
They do have the right to
restrict to radius of distance
you are driving the car. So if
you tell them just across the
border they will agree, but if
you tell them Florida you are
out of luck..... |
