It all depends on the girl. If the girl likes flowers and gets really excited when she receives them, then it is important to her. I think guys often times like practical gifts so they don't understand the whole flower thing. Some women like practical gifts, but most like to receive things that are considered a splurge or a something not very useful at all. Things they want and don't need and don't feel comfortable to buy themselves. For example, no woman really needs a diamond pendant necklace, but you would be hard pressed to find a woman who would turn one down. Same thing goes for flowers, no one needs flowers, but you would have a hard time finding a woman that wouldn't enjoy receiving a batch of them from her boyfriend. Particularly when she isn't expecting it. For whatever, reason, women tend to view flowers as a testament to how much the guy really loves her. Perhaps it is because he went to the trouble to get her something just because he knows she will like it and it will make her happy.
