How much hp gain will i getwith bolting on some headers? |
|
Sry about all the header
questions but im trying to
find ways to gain hp. I have a
small block 350 and its
pushing around 280-300hp and i
was wanting to know how much
more hp i will have by bolting
up some street/strip headers.
Im thinking about going with
some Headman or Hooker
headers. |

depends on what you have in
the engine, about 20 horses is
always a good guess, , and
also it depends on whether or
not they are long tube or
shorty headers. a good intake
and carb are always a good
addition with a set of quality
headers. |

What is an effective way toadd noticeable HP/torque to mycar? |
|
Hi I have an 2.0L Lancer (non
evolution) automatic and I
want to add HP to my car. I
already have a short-ram
intake system and I have
noticed a difference in the
mid range. I already asked
about adding an exhaust and
people told me i woudnt see a
difference but it would sound
better. I want more than that.
Someone said that the
converter and O2 sensor will
prevent the exhaust from
adding more HP. So would the
solution be to replace those
with aftermarker parts? If so,
how much are we talking about
in price? I already know a
turbo will add large ammounts
of HP to my car but I wanted
to look at other options
first. Thanks
Well Im hoping to add about 50
or more. Maybe thats too high?
I got the aftermarker intake
already and I am postive I
have at least 10 more than a
stock engine so thats a start.
I want fast pick up times
though as the intake is mainly
a mid range booster. |

Forced induction is your best
choice, but it is also
expensive and on a motor not
made for a turbocharger, you
are limited in your abilities
to gain power by means of
forced induction.
Things like a cold air intake
and catback system will help,
but not as much as some people
would hope. The amount that
they help depends on how
restrictive your factory air
intake and exhaust system are.
Getting power out of a
naturally aspirated vehicle
depends on how much youre
willing to spend. If you want
to get the most out of an
exhaust system, you will want
to look into an aftermarket
exhaust manifold or "header",
as well as a high flow
catalytic convertor. These
items are not legal in some
areas, so if you have
emissions or "smog" tests,
check with a testing station
for legal issues.
Also, be leary of "chips", as
some of them just dont do
anything.
How much power are you hoping
to get? |

How much hp and tq will i beputting out on a 2007 SubaruSti with an Exhaust n Intakewith Dynotuning? |
|
Im getting a 2007 Sti with
exhaust and intake, and just
wondering how much hp and tq
itsputting out right there.
And if i Dynotune that, how
much will be my end result? |
 |
It sort of depends on how much
of the exhaust you are talking
about. I might confuse you a
little here so try to keep up.
An intake and cat back will
add about 10hp. Add a tune to
that and you'll see about 25 -
30hp. If you add a down pipe
to the mix and get it tuned,
you will see as much as 50 to
60hp over stock. Here is the
kicker. Just adding the down
pipe and tuning with the stock
intake and exhaust will still
give you about 50hp in gains.
That shows you how good the
factory cold air intake is for
the stock turbo, and the stock
exhaust flows pretty good too.
The first thing I suggest you
do is decide how far you want
to go with the car and how
much you want to spend. Then
find a reputable tuner in your
area or someone that will talk
to you over the phone and help
you reach your goals. You can
save your self some money and
headache if you take your time
and do it right the first
time. |
