How did intelius get myrecords how do I get them toremove me from all records? |
|
Wow, the larger consequenses,
of what you are saying grave
is that even people who are
running from crazy homicidal
people can't be safe. |
 |
I'm afraid that this is
largely true, my dear. We have
very little to protect us. We
are forced to provide a great
deal of information to various
companies and businesses,
because we need to have
telephones, medical services,
and other goods and services.
Then they turn around and sell
that information with
impunity. The best we can do
is not provide any more
information than we absolutely
have to and argue with such
merchants and so on about how
much we really have to give.
Lots of places demand my
social security number, for
example, just because it's a
handy number for them to use
for identification purposes.
But really, nobody should have
to have that one except the
U.S. government. If you
absolutely refuse to give it,
and keep some other number
handy, one you've memorized,
you can sometimes get away
with not giving the one they
want. But, so far, I haven't
been particularly successful
at keeping mine nearly as
private as it's supposed to
be. And that's with the law on
my side! But it's terribly
expensive to go hiring an
attorney to take Penney's and
Sears and your local school
board to court every week,
just to keep things like this
out of their files! I'm
tellin' ya, it's discouraging!
And I just had a little taste
of trouble when some lady at a
store a couple state away
borrowed a credit card number
from me and took it to about
10 stores and bought herself
about $200 worth of goodies
that I would never in my life
have purchased for myself! She
was no crazy homicidal maniac
and the credit card company
recognized the odd pattern of
purchases and actually
contacted me within 2 days. If
I were you, I'd contact the
police and see what can be
done. But I wouldn't hold my
breath. There may not be much,
if anything, that they CAN do.
Contact your congressman and
Senator too, though, because
we definitely need better
laws! |

Intelius Inc. How do you feelabout a company with access toproviding your cell phonenumber & other private |
|
This company will provide a
background check for a price
of $79.95 and give you
supposed information from
public records and information
provided by third parties,
including your cell phone
number, and unlisted numbers.
Out of curiousity, I paid the
fee and received nothing more
than two fomer addresses and a
telephone number assigned to
me, which was not mine.
Fortunately, divorse
information and other public
information was not given.
But, the high price to run a
backround check was absurd.
So, if you really need to do a
check on a prospective hiree
or person you are dating, it
is a total waste of money.
None the less, it is a total
invasion of our privacy. I do
not want people calling my
cell number or having access
to a non published telephone
number.
I wonder how the
Representatives or Congressman
would like it and how long
will it take for them to take
action?
Does anyone have any comments
or experience on these rip off
companies? I tried to get a
refund. No way. |
 |
If they are merely compiling
information from public
records, I suppose I can't
really gripe, altho the fee
does seem high. By definition,
one can't have their privacy
invaded when the matter is of
public record.
If, on the other hand, they
have somehow managed to get
hold of non-public info and
are selling it, then I have a
major objection to what
they're doing.
There are services out there
(I saw a commercial for one
named LifeLock recently) that
sell some identity theft
protection services, but that
might not be useful in the
situation you describe. Not to
mention the CEO of LifeLock
was recently the victim of ID
theft : ]

How do I get my informationoff of intelius & other siteslike that? |
|
Has anyone managed to do this? |
 |
You would have to pay a
special company to do this for
you, it would cost a
considerable amount of money
too, just search online
reputation removers and you
should find something. |
