For example an Hyundai Accent
is priced around
$13000(Rs.520000) for a higher
end model in US, but the same
is priced around Rs 600000 for
a base model.In spite of
having a manufacturing plant
in Sriperambudur, which lowers
the logistics cost and other
costs, cars are significantly
priced higher in India. This
is the cause for many people
for not affording to own one. |

.firstly,I dont think thats
the case with santros.they
dont cost more than 3.5
lakh,which is affordable to
most middlemen.( the upper end
goes to around a lakh
more)but,all the same,i do
agree cars are cheaper in
foreign countries(nearly half
the price in India whether the
above case applies or not)A
country like the Us need not
worry about its economic
interests being threatened by
companies native to some other
country to such a great extent
like in India.India's economy
will incur losses if it does
not levy duties on foreign
brand vehicles.its a common
fact that TATA,mahindra and
maruti dont have such an
awesome range of vehicles to
offer.
So,people would prefer any
foreign brand to these cars if
they had a chance to.After
all,rule 101 in our
constitution is our people
come first.Until India becomes
a developed country,we will
have to deal with this.
But,surprise,
surprise!Rejoice,my
friend,Ram.you could go for a
jagy once its in Tata's
hands.Maybe,we will see a new
breed of cars at reasonable
prices.. |

Since we will be doubling up
for the week across the
USA.and CANADA the ships will
have no where to dump(unload)
their oil due to the fact that
we will be using approx. 1/2
of their gas or oil. The
Middle east producers will
then have NO empty ships
available and their production
will also have to come to a
crawl. This is our
ACE-IN-THE-HOLE. Together we
can do it. |

The oil companies won't punish
anyone, sheesh.
Good sentiment, except a week
isn't long enough. There is
enough capactiy in the system
to mange a slowdown without
affecting production for close
to two weeks. Terminals have
extra tanks on hand to cope
with surplus fuel and gas
stations are rarely full, so
deliveries can be made to fill
them up, giving the terminals
that much more room.
Ships don't sit with product
in them, trust me. There's
always somewhere to unload the
product. Gasoilne isn't the
only product that comes from
crude oil. Until demand for
those products decreases,
there will be markets for oil.
Reducing total energy is the
only real answer. You have to
buy locally sourced organic
produce to eliminate trucking
fuel and fertilizers based on
oil products. Produce that
requires little cultivation
saves energy as well.
Switching your light bulbs to
energy efficient compact
flourescents or LED's saves
lots of energy. lowering your
thermostat in the winter and
raising it in the summer can
save more in a month than you
spend on fuels in 6 months,
depending on your car and
home.
Get off the freakin' internet.
Computers are heavily
petroleum derived, computers,
monitors and servers require
electricity, these ISP's
require office space that
needs to be lit, heated,
cooled and commuted to. Every
action counts!! Carpe Diem!! |
