Mac Speech? |
|
I know on computers with
Microsoft, there is a program
called Microsoft Sam or
something of the like in which
you can type in something and
playback with a voice.
Is there something similar on
Mac computers and if so, how
would I be able to access it? |
 |
Macs have had that feature
since the original Mac in
1984, actually, if I'm not
mistaken. :P You can choose
which voice you want the Mac
to use by opening System
Preferences, going to the
"Speech" icon, then the "Text
to Speech" tab.
Then, to get it to say
something while you're in any
application, one way is to set
up a keyboard shortcut (the
bottom checkbox of the three
in that window) and press it
when you have some text
selected that you want it to
speak; another way is (again,
with text selected) to go to
the app menu (i.e. the one
that says "Safari" in bold if
you're in Safari), then the
"Services" submenu, then
"Speech", then "Start Speaking
Text". I find the keyboard
shortcut's less of a hassle.
:) Hope that helps! |

How do you program your mac toanswer questions with speechrecognition? |
|
I was wondering how to program
my mac to answer the
quesiton...Mac want a beer?
Then I want my mac to reply
through speech recognition Yea
Gimme a Miller Light....How do
I do that?
Thanks |
 |
OK, here is the best i got for
you...(and for the record,
speech TOTALLY creeps me out,
i CANNOT stand it....ughhhh
*shivers*).
when you are on finder click
on the apple, sytem
preferences, speech, text to
speech. then click on "speak
selected text when key is
pressed. it will give you an
option, hold down something
like shift s or something.
then go to a webpage or word
doc and highlight some text
and press your special
code...wallah a creep voice
asking for a miller...
What you want needs to be
programmed somewhere into
global speakable items? I can
see what needs to be done, but
not how...sorry.
Hope that you at least get a
few kicks out of the text to
speech |

How to get Mac SpeechFunction? |
|
My friend has a mac and the
voice it uses in the speech
function is awesome, is there
a way for me to type in text
and have something say it in
that voice? like through a
browser? just like i can do
with Microsoft sam, but with
macs voice
Im sorry i should have
specified, i dont have a
mac... The question is how to
get that speech function on my
windows xp computer |
 |
Click on the Apple icon in the
upper left corner of your
screen. Select System
Preferences and when the panel
opens, select Speech. You can
choose a voice from the list
(some of them are just for
fun), and check the
appropriate box to turn on
Speech. |
