Is MGM Mirage a good stock toinvest in? |

My boyfriend just graduated
from college and he invests in
the stock market. I figured a
good gift would be a stock. He
is interested in cards and
loves Vegas, would mgm mirage
be a bad investment? Does it
do well? thanks! |

There is no such thing as a
good stock or a bad stock.
There are only cheap and
expensive stocks. If MGM can
be purchased at a cheap price,
then its a good investment;
otherwise it is not.
MGM does not pay and dividend,
so you will receive no money
from this investment during
ownership; this is equivalent
to owning a rock. MGM has
heavy costs in constantly
remodeling its properties and
and keeping things up to date,
so their earnings frequently
suffer and stumble (i.e. its
inconsistent).
I consider MGM a fad stock, it
goes up in popularity then
tumbles on financial reality.
In just a few years its gone
from $20 to $100 to $20. The
question is, how do you know
when to buy and sell? If you
don't have that answer, then
you shouldn't be investing in
MGM or individual stocks in
general.
As a side, people who invest
in individual stocks are
doomed to underperform the
market and often lose lots of
money. Want a gift for you
boyfriend? Invest in the
Vanguard 500 Index mutual fund
and you will mimic "the
market" and benefit from the
American economy. |

What are the card levels forthe MGM/Mirage players clubcards? |

I know Harrahs goes from gold,
platinum, diamond to 7 star,
but I dont know how MGM
handles that. I have already
renewed my diamond status at
Harrahs for the year and wont
make 7 star so I was
considering playing more at
the MGM properties. Does
anyone know the formula they
use and how generous they are
with comps? |

The MGM/Mirage "Players Club"
card is one of the best for
cash back/earned
comps/discretionary comps.
With the Player Club card,
"IF" you're looking for future
room offers you are better off
concentrating your play at the
hotel you're most interested
in. Total Rewards works quite
a bit different than most in
this regard.
