How can I make a bathroom moremodern in a rented apartment? |
|
I live in a rental and my
bathroom looks really old and
70s-ish. As I don't own it I
can't make big changes (nor
want to spend lots of money
doing it).
My tiles are a light blue
colour, medium sized and the
shower is in the bath.
I am looking for more than
just changing the bath towel
colour and hanging a shower
curtain. Any good ideas? |
 |
If you get permission, buy a
can of paint, a discontinued
colour is usually cheapest,
(make sure you buy enough as
if it's discontinued, you may
not be able to buy a second
can if you run out). I'd
choose a light cream or white.
As either of these are neutral
colours, the landlord is more
likely to agree to it. Remove
any curtains from the window
(you can hang them back up
when you leave) and place a
few plants along the window
sill in their place. Two
fluffy bath mats that you can
alternate between add a touch
of luxury and are soft under
foot when you step out of the
shower. Maybe a chrome towel
rail, chrome hooks, and
stainless steel shower caddy
to hold soap/shampoo etc for
inside shower/bath. |

Has anyone ever tried to wallmount cabinetry to make amodern bathroom vanity? |
|
My husband and I are trying to
do a low cost rehab of a large
bathroom. I found a tv stand
that is a perfect fit if we
can somehow wall mount it for
a floating effect and add
vessel sinks and a glass
countertop. The only problem
is that the piece is heavy and
we have metal studs for the
most part. Does anyone have
any suggestions? Thanks! |
 |
You need to find the center of
the metal studs, either with a
stud finder or use a very
small diameter nail and poke
through the wall to find the
edges of the stud. The next
stud should be 16 inches
apart. Find the center for
both studs where you want to
mount the TV stand.
You may need to use 4 right
angle brackets to hold the the
tv stand. 2 at the top and 2
at the bottom. Next drill
holes into the metal studs at
the height that you want the
brackets and secure them to
the wall with metal screws.
I would suggest a # 10 metal
screw at lest 1.5 inches long
or larger. Use a drill bit
that is smaller then the
diameter of the screw under
the threads.

I need ideas for modernbathroom vanities ? |
|
I'm redoing all the bathrooms
in my house, it's a very old
house, and I was just
wondering if anyone has any
sites with images and info
about the new styles of
bathroom vanities out there? |
 |
There is some extremely nice
Bathroom vanities I found at
this site. I shopped around a
lot also and this was the best
deal for the quality. They are
even running a free shipping
deal right now.
