when i type in a word for a
site say zappos and a number
of ads come up that are
clearly not zappos but have a
display url of another site.
how do i tell what the
destination url really is in
the ad?
using the zappos example above
i get an ad for
onlineshoes.com in the display
portion but THEN end up at
www.onliieshoes.com.
is the redirect happening at
www.onliiehoes.com's servers
so i can't see it?

If you are using internet
explorer, whenever you hover
over any link, the url will be
at the bottom left side in the
tan colored bar next to the
"e". If your reading this
right now it should say "Done"
next to it. Make sure you
never click on any link that
has the word "login" anwhere
in it. And if the url doesn't
seem to be related to the
link, don't click on it
either.
The url might not match the
site exactly, and that is ok.
A lot of sites are doing
"affiliate marketing", and may
get paid a percentage of
anything you buy from the
site. The track it by the url.
Most ads should be safe, and
if it's an "ad by google" it
should be alright since they
have paid for the ad.
You can always check out a
company and see if they are
legitimate or not. If you know
what state the company is in,
check www.superpages.com or
www.yellowpages.com and see if
they are listed in the
directory. Most scam companies
won't pay for the listing,
because they are expensive.
Also check out www.bbb.org
(better business bureau). Even
if they aren't a member,
people can complain there if
they've been scammed. Hope
