What kind of batting or othermaterial can you use foroutdoor Christmas decor? Iwant it to look like snow. ? |
|
What kind of material can you
use for outdoor Christmas
decor that imitates snow? I've
seen it used many times but
have never used it myself or
known anyone personally that
has used it. We really want to
make the front of our house
look like a winter wonderland.
Someone told me to use batting
that you use to make quilts
but I have no idea what type
or if this is what is really
used. any help would be
greatly appreciated. |

A cheap roll of polyester
batting would probably do the
trick for you. The cheaper
stuff pulls apart a bit, which
would give you the wispy look
of freshly fallen snow. Do NOT
get cotton batting. That is a
much more dense product, and
would look like a thin, flat
blanket. You can get a 72" x
96" piece of the cheap stuff
for about $7 at JoAnn Fabrics.

Any cheap ideas for outdoordeck decor? |
|
My mom's birthday is on the
weekend and I was thinking
that for part of her present
I'd try to give the deck a
little makeover. Right now
there's not much of anything
except an okay little table
and matching chairs, some lawn
chairs and ugly white plastic
side tables. Anybody have any
low-cost ideas on how to
improve it a bit? Like some
cheap plants or flowers
(nothing very smelly b/c she
could get allergic) or other
accessories.... Did I mention
the word "cheap" enough? LOL
I'm broke at the moment. I
plan to only spend about 20-25
dollars and hope to get a few
things at the dollar store.
What would make the biggest
impact for the littlest cost? |
 |
Looks like you are in for a
little do it yourself project.
Go to the fabric store and
make her seat cushions for her
chairs. You can do this for
very cheap (under $5 or $10
depending on size). Make sure
you get fabric from the scraps
bins, they are discounted.
Don't be afraid to mix and
match colors and shades. Next,
go to Home Depot (or your
local nursery) and explain
your financial pinch and see
if they have any outdoor
plants that are maybe slightly
damaged or the only one left
so they can give it to you at
a discounted price. Same goes
for a pot. They usually have
something chipped that they
can give you at a discount.
Look around at garage sales
too. You may find it is
cheaper to go to the dollar
store and get silk flowers.
You should be able to get a
few things put together with
your remaining money. Now, for
a finishing touch, clean
everything on your mom's
patio. Clean the furniture,
and the patio itself. Make it
look brand new. Top everything
off with some glasses (her's
of course) of nice lemonade
(or her fav drink) on her
newly refurbished patio for
you and her to enjoy some
quality time together which is
the greatest gift of all. |

Holloween outdoor Decor? |
|
I asked thas already but need
more ideas. I have a very
small front yard (not really a
yard ) so a grave yard won't
work out.I know I am doin a
goast out of white trash bag
and hanging it in the walk way
of our front door. I have NO
trees in the front either. I
need these ideas to be things
I can make with my 3 and 5 yr
old. Thanx for any ideas. |

Take 4 wooden stakes and put a
large styrofoam ball on the
top, cover with a white sheet
and ties, then they kids can
draw faces on them and then
put them in a circle for a
ghostly ring around the rosie! |
