What punch software should Iget? |

We want to get something for
my sister for Christmas, she
enjoys designing houses and we
thought we would get her ounch
software so she can design
houses on the computer. She
plans on doing it just for fun
so something really expensive
is not what we are looking
for, under $100. We would like
to do landscape and house
design. What punch program
should we get? |

You are in luck, you do not
even need to buy anything.
There is an open source
software called Blender that
you can download and is great
for creating 3D graphics and
images. Then you can even
render them to make it look
like a photograph. Take a look
through the site to see some
of the creations people made
with the program and you can
also download the program from

i was wondering which one is
better......
1. Punch! Professional Home
Design Platinum
2. Better homes and gardens
design software
....and another question, what
programs do pro architechs use
when creating blue prints and

It really depends on your
needs.
I have Better Homes & Garden
Interior Designer ($59.00). I
did not need the landscape
features or deck features as I
also have Chief Architect 9.5
full version which is a
professional architects
program, ($1800.00).
I chose the BHG because I was
used to using Chief (who
manufactures BHG) and it had
some other features that I
wanted, like the grid &
updated library objects).
.
You can do your interior floor
plans, add multiple floors,
foundations, basement, roof
etc. You can view and edit
your plan in 2D and 3D. You
can record and show animated
3D walkthroughs of your plan
as well as create itemized
lists of materials to help you
estimate material costs. You
can place your fixtures,
furniture and other
accessories.
It has a user home talk
bulletin board which is great
to discuss and exchange your
ideas. It comes with two
tutorial CDs.
You are looking at Home
Designer Suite 7 which
includes the exterior as does
the Punch. So, that being
said, from my experience I can
only give a thumbs up for BHG
Bottom line: Look at the
comparison matrix and evaluate
your personal needs. These
programs can get pretty
complicated.
Call some of your local
architects to see what they
are using if you are pursuing
that as your career. I know
Chief 10 full version is used
by builders and architects.

of work...I'm looking for
software that will convert
that information to a
filemaker database. |

If it's an actual punch card,
as in the card is notched,
you'll need a mechanical
device.
If it's a stamp, you can
design your FileMaker
database, then scan the
timecards with standard OCR
(optical character
recognition) software, which
will convert the stamped cards
to text.
Then, manually enter the data. |
