How can I trade in my Qwestphone to a to get my newVerizon phone online? |
|
If you don't know Qwest will
be Verizon in october. They
are offering current
subscribers a trade in program
to get a new phone. I have
heard you can do this online.
Anyone know how to or has done
it already? |
 |
I have had a miserable
experience trading my broken
Qwest pocet pc for a Verizon
phone. I have been on the
phone for hours and hours...4
hours today alone. Each time I
get forwarded to someone else
or from Qwest to Verizon...and
back! Yesterday was the first
day the Qwest employees had
been able to do this
transition. The rep ordered me
a new Verizon phone comparable
to my pocket pc. Then at the
last minute he said, "oops!
the Fed Ex delivery address
shows your PO box, not your
physical address and I can't
change it at this point." Then
he said, "But don't
worry...Fed Ex has ways of
finding your physical address
from your PO Box." Well, my po
box is associated with an
address where I lived before
travelling and living in India
for 6 months last year. So...I
have called Fed Ex ...they
can't find the
order...Qwest/Verizon can't
find the order either so I
can't get a tracking number. I
am told if I ever do receive
the phone to understand that
on day 30 after the activation
of the product, I am
automatically signed up with a
contract. BE CAREFUL.
GOOD LUCK....HOPE YOURS IS
BETTER THAN MINE. |

On the qwest cell phone bill, what does "Other" tax mean onthe tax break down? |
|
Do other cell phone companies,
besides qwest, have "other
tax" listed on the monthly
statement? |
 |
Other tax is one of 7
possibilities:
1. The "subscriber line
charge" that the FCC assesses
the telecommunications service
provider, hence the provider
passes on to the customer.
2. A Federal, State or Local
tax that is for other service
that your telecommunications
outfit provides, such as if
you use the cell to snap
photographs, internet access
and e-mail addresses or play
music.
3. A tax that one or more
States assess in the area that
Qwest serves, but not every
state.
4. Your cell has exceeded an
artificially imposed limit on
calls to landlines set by the
local phone company, charged
you and labeled a "tax" for
the Fed, ST or local
government when it is not.
5. It's a tax that's imposed
only once a quarter instead of
once a month.
6. A tax that was going to be
phased out but the politicians
retained it and the phone
company doesn't want you to
know that you will continue
paying as much tax, or more,
as you ever have.
7. Have not seen this yet, but
Qwest is concealing that you
are still being taxed for
long-distance calls made
during the Spanish -American
war. The Supreme court ruled
in 2006 that long-distance
calls are not made in the same
manner as 1898, hence it is
illegal to continue collecting
the tax.
I have not seen nor heard of
that classification on any
customer's bill since shortly
after the break-up of AT&T.
However, it is very possible
as the phone companies are
notorious for not telling
their customers anything other
than the worthless information
at the front of the phone
directory.
If you own a business, you
should demand that the phone
company tell you exactly what
the tax is. If you made and
received business related
calls on that cell, you need
to find out if that tax is
deductible. You would have to
prorate of course. As always,
keep very precise records.
Call the Attorney General of
your State. You can find the
number by typing "attorney
general for...." {your state}
as well as their e-mail
addresses. Sometimes, the
number is toll-free. |

How do I change my voice mailnumber on my Qwest landline? |
|
I would like to alter the
number of my voice mail on my
Qwest landline. Instead of
connecting callers to my Qwest
voice mail box when I fail to
answer, I would like callers
be to forwarded to a separate
phone number where I set up a
voice mail box. Is this
possible and if so how do I go
about doing it? |
 |
I believe that you would need
Call forwarding. Call Customer
Service at Qwest and ask them
how to do this. |
