About "Rail Europe" Answer

How do you book a sleeper carwith rail europe?
On the Rail Europe website how do you select a sleeping car, or make the choice between sleeper, couchette, regular seat etc. Or is there a better way to book (mainly eastern europe)
On the raileurope website, you can only buy the full ticket, and if you're booking a night train, click on details and it tells you whether you're in a T6 or T4 couchette compartment, and if you click on the most expensive it's probably a better compartment. The only problem is if you have a railpass, there's no way just to reserve and pay the supplement for a couchette. My advice is to go to a train station as soon as you get to Europe and book the reservations there. If you have a railpass, show it to them and they will only charge you the supplement. If a train station can't do it for a train in another country, try a travel agency in Europe that sells train tickets. I was able to pay for a couchette supplement in Amsterdam for a train in Germany. In some cases you can just book it the morning of the departure, but popular routes can sell out, so it's better to go a day or two in advance. There's a great wwebsite about train travel that might have some info for you. http://www.seat61.com
How does the rail europeexpress train work?
We will be in Madrid and from there we want to go to other countries but are unaware how to go about this with trains. Any ideas?
Really depends on how many countries you intend to visit. Rail passes can be useful, and pay for themselves, if used for long trips. Look at the RailEurope website to find out which pass would be relevant to your needs. If you're travelling within Spain, it is usually cheaper to buy point-to-point tickets than to use up a Rail Pass day. You don't say which country you'll travel to after Spain, but the Spanish National Railway - RENFE - website should provide some idea of timetables and prices eg Madrid to Paris: http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/i ngles.html Passes can be bought through RailEurope, RailPlus or Eurail. It's also possible to book tickets in advance through these websites. Be aware that, even with a rail pass, you may still need to pay a supplement to reserve a seat, or sleeper.
Are you able to exchange RailEurope tickets?
We need a different date for a train ticket we already purchased. It's for a one way trip in November. I couldn't find this information on their site. How could I go about changing the reservation? Thanks.
You should be able to change on the site where you bought the tickets, search for a button like 'contact' or 'e-mail'. If it does not work try with the train company you will travel with, read on: Mostly the tickets that are sold are from a train company, not Rail Europe, and many companies have different rules. If you have your ticket it may say something like: Valid for two months, or valid from (date) to (date). In that case you only need to change reservations if you have made them for a particular date. Or the ticket can be for one train only, most high-speed trains work that way, in that case you need to contact the high-speed train company you travel on. You will need to exchange the ticket, or mostly to buy new tickets for which the old tickets are accepted as part payment. (You will have to pay the difference in price and will loose a little on the value of the first ticket.) If your ticket is a combination of both kinds of tickets you will only need to change the parts that are relevant. Or the ticket is for one particular day, mostly just ticket within one country, or you need to change outside the period when the ticket is valid. Contact the national train company for the country where you travel, to ask what to do. As you do not give any information on where you will be traveling I can not give you the contact information. But you will mostly find it when you google on the name of the country and train information. If you can not find what you need, contact me with more info and I will search for you.
