About "Roots" Answer

How to get the roots of myhair straight without astraightener?
I have really thick coarse poofy hair but my roots are even worse and I don't want to straighten it cause I don't want to go the close to my scalp with a straightener so are there any products or cremes that would help my roots look straight without straightening it? Or maybe even how to make my roots look straight when I come out the shower? Thanks very much in advance (:
Use a round brush and a hair dryer. While your hair is damp from the shower, work in a thermal protective product that is also anti frizz, like Ion Heat Protection Thermal Spray http://www.sallybeauty.com/ion -anti-frizz-straight-solutions -heat-protection/SBS-302272,de fault,pd.html Use the brush to pull the hair straight, and concentrate the dryer on the roots. If you haven't got one, pick up a concentrator nozzle that will focus the stream of air where you want it. Also consider getting a really good hair dryer, that will dry your hair faster and not fry it. http://www.sallybeauty.com/jil bere-porcelain-dryer/SBS-34560 0,default,pd.html You should moisturize the heck out of your hair if you do this a lot... because no matter how well you protect it, this sort of treatment will dry your hair out. Olive oil is a great natural treatment... just heat some up (not too hot!) and comb it through your hair, wrap it in a towel and hang out for 1/2 hour or so.... let it soak in. Then shampoo it out. Don't slip in the shower!
Roots.........?
Has anybody out there ever read Roots by Alex Haley and if so what were your feelings on it.
I read it and saw the series. Excellent book, moves thru generations so you get the sense of what it was like to be a first generation slave right up until the end of slavery. Very emotional book, sad and horrifying at times. Well worth a read.
How do you make a plant rootsdefy geotropism?
Hello everybody I was wondering how a plants roots can defy gravity, meaning disproving geotropism. Yes I know, there will be gravity pulling down the roots, but I need to find a way to make the roots defy gravity. My project ideas are to use a hydroponics set. First I would put a seed in a plastic clear container filled with water. In the middle of the container would be mesh to prevent the seed from falling to the bottom and allowing the roots to grow through the mesh. As the roots have grown a little bit, I plan to take the seed and its roots, and suspend its roots with some string and a trellis. The seed would be facing to the bottom of the container. Would this idea disprove geotropism? Your comments, remarks, retorts, and suggestions are much appreciated! =D
There isn't really a "geotropism" as much as its a gravitropism. And it's not disproved by NASA. Notice in the NASA experiment there was no gravity, thus taking out the essential part of testing wether or not gravitropism is real. In your experiment you suggest hanging the plant upside down. The roots would just start growing down as the plant grew up. This is because of the statoliths in the root cell that fall to the lowest part of the cell and promote growth in that direction. They act oppositely in the stem, causing growth opposite the direction they fall. The plant would become contorted and probably wouldn't be able to support itself for very long depending on what type of plant it was. The roots won't defy gravity because its impractical. For millions of years they have grown down, where the water and nutrients are. They wont grow up, even if there is water and nutrients up, simply because they arnt only gaining things for the plant, but they are anchoring it to the ground, and the sun will ALWAYS be in the "up" direction.
