For one, that link is
completely unreliable. Of
course people are going to
look ugly if you take pictures
of them at crappy angles with
awkward candid faces and bad
lighting. That would make the
prettiest of the pretty look
like crap, even with loads of
makeup.
Men aren't expected to wear
makeup and be 'pretty', while
women are. They're expected to
be rugged and manly, and
makeup isn't very manly.
And not all women look
terrible without makeup. While
some do is because they have
pockmarks, pimples, rosacea,
or uneven skin tone. If you're
going by famous people
standards, Hilary Duff and
Emma Watson look amazing
without makeup.
And, again, not all men look
good without makeup.
Obviously, actors (like Dan
Radcliffe, bless his little
heart, had a horrible acne
spell) and such are going to
look amazing, but they're
airbrushed. Men on a
day-to-day basis, in my
opinion, don't really have
that different a beauty
problem than women; they still
get acne and stuff, too, but
aren't expected to wear
foundation and concealer. So,
'we get used to it' is sort of
true in that respect. |
