DIY or Hire for blinds? Howmuch money saved?
I am looking to install about 15 blinds in my new house. I was wondering how much money I would actually save by doing this job myself. Right now it seems like the average blind cost about $110. I figure I'll be spending about $1,650 already. Also has anyone here used Selectblinds.com? Thanks
I'm installing new throughout our house; replacing old blinds with new cellular shades. When I was buying them last week I noticed a sign saying Lowe's charges $7 to install per linear foot (in CT). Personally, they aren't hard to hang. I use a (hammer or) drill, put up the parts and slap the blinds in. Unless you have a large opening (patio doors or the like) you would save cash by doing it yourself.
why can't you order blindswider than 76 inches for topdown bottom up blinds?
I've checked out all the online stores - selectblinds.com, justblinds.com etc and none will let you order blinds wider than 76 inches with the option for top down bottom up. if you know of a site where i can buy these blinds, please include in your answer. thanks!
Hi Jeff. Most manufacturers due this because of weight concerns on their control cords. However there is good news. Hunter Douglas Honeycomb Cell Shades can be made much wider with that option.
