What is the difference betweenthe Adkins diet and the SouthBeach diet?
I need to start a diet and don't know which way to go. Adkins has been successful in the past, but I love skim milk and fruit and I believe that you can have those on the South Beach diet. Can anyone give me information on this subject?
You're right- fruits are allowed and encouraged after the 1st phase of the south beach diet. South beach is a lot healthier and varied than Atkins. BTW there are snack options at the grocery store that are labeled for the SBD and some of them are pretty good whereas, in my opinion, Atkins bars taste horrible!
How do I get started on thesouth beach diet and whatexactly is it?
I'm really wanting to be fitter and healthier and thought the south beach diet could be the way to go.
First of all, you need to buy the book. It explains everything in there. But just a quick overview.... There are 3 phases, the 1st phase you do for 2 weeks. You can eat things like steaks, chicken, hamburger, all sorts of meats, cheeses, vegetables, eggs. No sugar or bread or pasta.It is the strictest part of the diet. But in the first 2 weeks you can lose 8 -13lbs. I lost 12 in my first two weeks. Then after 2 weeks, you slowly start adding the good carbs. Fruits and things that are very low in sugar. After you are down to the weight you want you can go to phase 3. Which is eating things that are low in carbs and pretty much eat the things that are healthy for you. I really like the diet and you will be amazed at how your cravings for sugar will go away! I've lost 35 lbs so far. I would buy the book. How does the south beach dietwork?
I really like fruits and veggies. I'm not too big into meat or cheese which is why the atkins would not work for me (Plus I dont think it is very healthy). Before I go out and buy the book or whatever it is, how exactly does the South Beach Diet work?
If you look on the website it tells you the plan, i think its something like for the first week yuo dont eat this and then the next week you put that back in... Not sure :) Btw: Its pahses loll :)
