About "The Knot" Answer

Can you tie a knot in a youngtree and it not die?
When I was a child my grandfather tied a knot in a very small tree and it grew into a large tree with a cool knot in the trunk. My husband does not believe me and says I've been dooped. He thinks grandpa played a trick on all of us. Is tying a knot in a tree possible?
HI THERE. SOME TIE A KNOT ON THE THREE FOR SWINGS FOR KIDS THEY USE AN OLD TIRE THAT HAS NOT TUBE AND THE TUBE AIRLESS THE TIRE HANGS AND KIDS GET IN THE WHOLE OF THE SWING AND KIDS LOVE THEM BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE TREE IS STRONG AND LARGE IN DIAMOND ENOUGH TO TIE A ROPE BUT IF THE TREE IS SMALL YOU MIGHT BE MEANING BANSAI? OR SOME PEOPLE THEY TRY A STRING -- THEN THEY TAKE IF OFF AND THEN TIE ANOTHER ONE AND TAKE IT OFF AGAIN I THINK THAT IS HOW THEY CAN TELL HOW OLD IS THE TREE -- SMALL OR BIG BY THE WAY DO YOU GROW APRICOTS QUITE DELICIOUS IS THE FRUITS THEY FLOWER IN THE FALL -- THE FLOWERS TURNS INTO FRUITS AND IN LATE MAY OR EARLY JUNE IT IS READY FOR HARVEST AND CONSUMPTIONS TAKE CARE KATHY
What is the best knot to usefor a rope swing on a treelimb?
I bought a disk-on-a-rope swing for my children. It came with no instructions! I have a sturdy tree limb about 6-feet high that I can tie it to, but could someone recommend the best knot to use? I have instructions for a bowline knot, but I am not sure if that would be appropriate. Thanks.
a bowline knot is great. It is nearly impossible to slip free especially when tension is applied to it. I would go with a bowline for sure
How far is a knot and why isit called a knot?
in nautical terms.... how far is a knot and why is it called a knot?
A knot is approx 1.2 mph =1 statute mph. It was initially measured using line with knots tied in along with an hour glass (set in minutes). When the line is thrown over the stern with a small weight attatched the number of knots counted along the line in one minute will tell you the speed of the vessel. Hence the word "Knot" or "Knots".
