About "Ticket Network" Answer

can i buy a stansted expressticket with a network railcarddiscount? |
|
i've looked at the network
card website and it tells me
that i can't buy heathrow or
gatwick express train tickets
but doesn't mention stansted
express ones.....the map
doesn't show the stansted
express line either. however,
on the stansted express
tickets website it mentions
the network railcard
discount!!! |

Unlike the Gatwick Express
(formerly part of British
Rail's "InterCity" business
unit) and Heathrow Express
(operated by BAA), the
Stansted Express has been part
of "one" West Anglia and its
predecessors since it was
launched back in 1991.
As such, they do accept
Network Railcards, subject to
the £10 minimum fare on Adult
tickets on Mondays to Fridays,
and not before 10am. |

Don't you think it's way tooeasy to travel around the UKrail network without a ticket? |
|
i have been using the train a
lot recently, and rarely have
my ticket inspected,
especially on the rush hour
trains. in addition, most of
the stations i use do not have
automatic ticket barriers on
entrance/ exit and those which
do are often left open during
peak times. no wonder the
companies are loosing money... |
 |
exactly, its no use having
barriers if your going to
leave them open, or in the
case of barriers at Leeds make
sure they are not letting out
of date tickets through the
barriers.
I don't ever think fare
dodging will ever be
eradicated, no matter how many
barriers or checks are done on
trains but of course with
these then it can be minimised
if done properly.
And yes it is hard to check
all tickets on a train
especially if it a busy train,
especially if you have
passengers who have a problem
with tickets or have to spend
2-3 minutes rummaging in bags
and pockets because they don't
have the sense to get their
tickets ready before they sit
down, so yes those at the far
end can be missed, although a
solution is to sometimes start
at the other end of the train.
and work in the opposite
direction.
Also for those in the UK don't
believe that the fares are
going up constantly because of
"fare dodgers" or "rising
costs", basically the
government let companies put
up fares above the rate of
inflation is because they want
you to pay 75% towards the
running costs of the railways,
where are as the moment its
only 50%, |
