About "TiVo" Answer

What happens to my shows Irecorded on my old Tivo if Iget a new one?
I bought a Tivo from a yard sale. I already had one but it can't record two shows at once. I am planing on putting the Tivo from the Yard sale ( the one that can record two shows) in to My living room were the old one is. Can i keep the shows on the old on or is there a way to transfer shows from one to another?
You can keep it and watch the shows after you move the subscription over. If they will both be at the same place, you may wish to set the remote addresses each to an address other than zero.
What's the difference betweenTiVo and Bell (For Canadianviewers)?
I am thinking of hooking up Satellite TV to my TV and I have narrowed down the list to two Satellites. One is TiVo and the other is Bell. But some people are telling me that they're the same thing and others are telling me that they're different companies and have different qualities and advantages. I'm just wondering if you guys who live in Canada with these programs know what the differences are between these two.
Tivo is a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and not a service provider. You would use Tivo with a Satellite or cable provider(or over the air too I guess) Bell seems to be a Satellite provider, and I assume they have their own DVR. Your choice would then be to use Bell's DVR or to use Tivo with the Bell service.
TiVo??????
I have 80-hour TiVo. I'm going out of town for a month and I don't have enough hours for recorder all my favorite shows. Is there a way that I can add more hours to my TiVo? If so, how?
Yes, but not easily. One option is to record all of your shows at a lower quality setting such as "Basic" quality or "Medium" quality rather than at "High Quality" or "Best Quality". This will allow you to squeeze as many shows onto your existing TiVo as possible. Although the picture quality may not be what you want. You can check the settings for each and every show in your Season Pass and change it under the "Options" settings. This could be quite a pain in the .... given that you may have a lot of shows to change. I would also recommend that you change all your "critical" shows to "keep until I delete" under recording options and "sacrifice" lesser shows. The other option is to consider upgrading the hard drive in your TiVo to a larger hard drive. If you or a friend are technically competent with a screw driver and don't mind opening up your TiVo, you can order a hard drive upgrade from http://www.weaknees.com/ and install it. This can change your 80-hour TiVo into a 160 hour TiVo or more, depending on how much you are willing to spend (starting around $140). In some cases you can just add another disk. In some cases you need to replace your existing disk. If you replace your existing hard disk, you will lose your existing settings and programs (because they are on the hard disk you just removed) and will need to reprogram your Season Passes. I did this with my original TiVo Series 1 and was very happy. I couldn't personally watch low quality recordings. However, I waited until the TiVo was out of warranty before I did this. If you want to see how complicated this is, here are the instructions: http://www.weaknees.com/upgrad e-instructions.php
