Why do I keep getting a Pop upfromhttp://shop.trendmicro.com ? |

Every morning when I turn my
computer on and open my
Explorer window I am getting a
warning window stating that my
protection is about to expire
with a re-direct URL to
http://shop.trendmicro.com/tma
sy/eol.html?X=300,Y=300,WIDTH=
680,HEIGHT=470
What is this? I do not have a
spyware to upgrade
Can anyone tell me how to stop
this pop-up? I have looked in
my program files and cannot
find it
After my research I find that
HiJack this is made by
trendmicro. I downloaded and
have used hijackthis on many
occasions but removed it. The
removeal was after the
pop-up's started. So the
question now becomes how do
you remove malware from the
malware remover???
FIXED! No help what-so-ever
from any message board or
forum. After 4 days of
investigating, I found that
Trendmicro also has roots in
HijackThis and Spysubtract:
Files I downloaded 2 years ago
to help with registry issues.
I had to delete the registry
keys for all associated. Hope
this helps someone else. |

Is housecall.trendmicro.comfull of problems at scanningfor viruses? |

I went there to try to scan
for viruses and have them
removed but the first time I
used it, here was a counter
telling me how long it would
take to clean the viruses and
it started from 2 and a half
minutes and stopped at 30
seconds for 2 hours so I gave
up and tried again. The next
time I used it it counted down
from 2 and a half minutes
again but got for an hour on 7
seconds. The viruses were not
removed. What's wrong with it? |

I use Windows XP on Pentium 4.
The XControl required for
trendmicro scan is already
installed. |

Try updating/ installing your
JRE2 (Java run time
enviorment)
http://www.java.com
Then from the initial Trend
Micro screen, simply mark the
checkbox "I want to select a
different HouseCall kernel"
Pick Java based (the only
other choice) and follow the
installation prompts.
Then at the kernel selection
screen choose;
"Scan Using Java-based
HouseCall kernel"
If this wont do it (it
should), try using a different
browser, FireFox is supported,
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/f
irefox/ and runs through Java
exclusively, and not as an
ActiveX browser extension.
That being said, I have found
Trend Micro Housecall (while
excellent at finding
malware/and other security
threats) can be a little flaky
at times.
If you recive a message like
"failed to create a native
.api binding" while using
Firefox, or don't want to
install another browser or
Java, just try another online
virus scan;
